The dam had an all out expense of $165 million to assemble and was finished two years in front of calendar. The name of the dam has changed a few times. The first name of the dam was Boulder Dam, since it was built at the base of Boulder Canyon. It later got known as Hoover Dam when Secretary of the Interior Ray L.Wilbur named it that during a strike plunging function, out of appreciation for President Herbert Hoover. At that point, in 1933 President Franklin D. Roosevelt‘s Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes, transformed it back to Boulder Dam.
